The Company

The statement that “The history of Gujarat is as old as time itself”, is not an exaggeration. The history of Gujarat began with Stone Age settlements followed by Chalcolithic and Bronze Age settlements like Indus Vally Civilisation to the modern day state of Gujarat in India. Gujarat’s coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch, served as ports and trading centres in the Nanda, Maurya, Satavahana and Gupta empires as well as Western Kshatrapas period. After the fall of the Gupta empire in the 6th century, Gujarat flourished as an independent Hindu/Buddhist state. The Maitraka dynasty, descended from a Gupta general, followed by Arab rulers of Sindh, the Gurjara – Pratihara empire, and Rashtrakuta and Pala Empires. In 775 the first Parsi (Zoroastrian) refugees arrived in Gujarat from Greater Iran.
The detailed history of Gujarat traces its paths through the reigns of the The Turkic Sultans to The Mughal Emperors and through the Maratha Warriors to what it is today. All these influences of changing times and rules have left Gujarat with a rich cultural and traditional heritage which is visible in the architecture, ceremonies, attire and religious faiths followed in the state.
